Meet Martin Wittering: World-Class Rally Mechanic

For 15 years, Martin worked in the Motorcycle Clothing industry, as a UK Sales Manager for Alpinestars. During this time he also found a passion for working on bikes – off-road machines in particular – and spent many years as enduro mechanic on the British Enduro Championship.
In 2003 he was asked to build a Honda XR650 Rally bike for Patsy Quick’s first Dakar Rally challenge. The following year he prepared the KTM 660 rally bikes for her 2004 attempt and then joined the Desert Rose Racing Team for the 2005 Dakar as the mechanic for Patsy, Clive Town and Gary Ennis. He was also asked to return for the 2006 Dakar, this time working on KTM 525s. As demand for his specialist knowledge and experience began to rise, he took the bold move to give up his day job and follow his passion.
Torque Racing Services was formed in 2007 and since then has become a highly respected name on the Rally circuit. Martin has provided his skills and experience on numerous Rallies such as the Dakar, Hellas Rally Raid, Rallye du Maroc, TransAnatolia, Rallye de Tunisie, Greece (Serres) Rally, Heroes Legend Rally and assisting the Cyril Despres Team in the Sardegna Rally Race.
Martin’s talents do not end there. He has also worked alongside John Mitchinson of Rally-Raid Products Ltd in developing equipment such as the ‘Rally Lite Kit’, converting enduro machines into rally-ready bikes and, most recently, the KTM 690 Evo 2 kit.

Torque Racing Services is proud to provide world-class support at the most prestigious rallies across the globe. Our commitment to the sport led us to partner with Perica and the Dinaric Rally team following a year of planning in 2023.
Recognising the event’s rapid evolution and its growing reputation amongst the rider community, Martin identified the Dinaric as a vital addition to our service calendar. Set against the backdrop of the stunning Croatian countryside, the rally offers a unique combination of technical challenge and breathtaking scenery.
2024 marked our inaugural year at the event, supported by the debut of our new service truck. We believe the Dinaric Rally stands out as one of Europe’s finest competitions, offering a versatile platform that caters to every level of rider, from the seasoned pro to the ambitious amateur.
